About Me

Hi! I’m Leah, the sewist and maker behind Poppy Rose! Born and raised in the Midwest, I grew up thrifting with my grandmother, which sparked my love for all things vintage and the thrill of treasure hunting at thrift stores. In 2018, Poppy Rose started as a page where I sold thrifted and vintage clothing, and over time it transformed into what it is today when I discovered my love for sewing.
I work as an X-ray tech at a very busy hospital. I love my job, and the week-on, week-off schedule gives me the perfect balance between work and my creative projects. During my work weeks I don’t get much sewing done, but on my weeks off I spend my days at the sewing machine.
I started sewing in 2020 when an avid quilter in her 90s gifted me a lifetime’s worth of fabric and sewing supplies. She insisted I take her beloved sewing machine, even though I’d never planned to sew. I’m forever grateful she chose me; her generosity completely changed my life. After a few sewing lessons from my grandmother, I fell completely in love, and I’ve been creating ever since.
Thrift and antique stores are my happy place. Everything I make is crafted from thrifted, vintage, or secondhand fabrics. Outside of sewing, I love spending time outdoors, traveling, drinking tea, my cats and knitting or crocheting something cozy.
Thank you for supporting my art! Every stitch and detail is made with love, and I hope my creations bring you as much joy as making them brings me.
